Casserly sat down with Education Week reporter Denisa R. Superville to talk about why he has stayed with the council for nearly 40 years, the organization's deep imprint on some of the most important federal K-12 policies and programs, how public schooling in urban districts has evolved, and the promising progress he sees in the big-city districts.
